My original plan was to do a talk show themed PSA but because of schedule conflicts i was forced to resort to an audio PSA which could possibly be used for radio. The PSA (Put a lid on it) is still about the spread of airborne germs and the information was taken from the original script and reduced. I did the entire PSA myself including the music you hear in the back round. I hope you enjoy it.

Collaborative Writing Issues - Progress Report
Establishing work related relationships are essential. Being able to work diligently among co-workers plays an imperative role that instantly establishes an individual’s character, work ethic, and level of professionalism. Moreover, being cooperative within the work place exceeds far beyond holding the door for someone and or maintaining the job as the workplace greeter. Cooperation within a workplace includes combining ideas and seeking possible solutions with the help of a co-worker. Sure, most would rather hire an assistant and work alone; however, there are many tasks that require the expertise and opinions of others.
Let’s face it, discovering ideas can be complicated. Unless you are able to create ideas can be complicated. Unless you are able to create ideas as fast as the speed of light, you should seek help when needed. Yet, when is the right time for work collaborations? First, there is a difference between working collaboratively and working “with someone,” believe it or not. Working collaboratively consists of forming ideas as a whole in order to execute any task that is put forth. An individual must be able to adhere to the ideas of his and or her co-workers; each and every opinion should be valued and respected. Secondly, the opinions of others could provide the finishing touch or the missing link a project that seems difficult. As previously stated, the difference between working collaboratively and working with someone is quite simple. When just “working with someone,” the opinions are not always valued. Often times, many feel that a person working at a lower level does not have the proficiency and their opinions are often overlooked. Many feel that working with others is a recipe for disaster. Working collaboratively is not only a good idea however, it is the recommended idea. For example, many people can get swarmed with paperwork and instantly become overwhelmed with their workload. Asking for help form a subordinate should not discourage however, it should be viewed as a sigh of relief.
There is no I in team and everyone needs someone. There is no exemption within the workplace. It is impossible to exceed to the highest level without the help of anyone. Being a team player will earn an individual the respect and credentials that comes with the territory. Why is working collaboratively important? It’s simple. One man cannot lead an army. It takes an army to lead an army.

Improving Professional Correspondence
To: T. Leoni, Manager, Personnel Department
From: Donald Pryzblo, Manager, Data Processing Department
Subject: INCORRECT PAYROLL CHECKS
Dear Mr. Leoni,
As we previously discussed in our meeting in regards to the faulty information in the computer files, I am informing you that I have productively found the derivation of our dilemma. In an effort to solve our existing situation, I did a review of my computer operators’ files relating to the incorrect payroll checks and found that the time cards were in fact in error. The individuals within my directory are duplicating time tickets that contain the wrong information, thus leading to our current situation. I believe that we indeed can solve this situation by being more thorough in our handling of this sensitive information. We discussed the possibility of adding the task of comparing the tickets with the sheet of times to my Personnel’s workload. I fear that our company ambition of creating a positive work environment might be affected negatively affected by this additional workload and I believe that we can arrange a more efficient system to process the information. if the tickets are reviewed before they are submitted. I would like to recommend a solution that will be adequate to all of our needs. I will compose a memo and send it out to the personnel that are included in this situation, emphasizing that we will begin to conduct random reviews of the tickets. By informing the personnel of the situation I hope to create an awareness of the issue at hands. Also, I recommend that you tell the clerks to review their work carefully before giving it to the computer operators.
Best regards,
Donald Pryzblo
There were several changes in which the sample email required modifications. The email, at first glance, is viewed as a letter written by the boss lashing out at employees due to their insubordination. The first correction would consist of the message within the subject category being written in all caps. It is possible that the Caps lock could have been activated nevertheless, if that were not the case then the subject would imply that the sender is using an aggressive tone towards the recipients. It is also possible that the “flaw” could not in fact be a mistake; the subject is both more clear and comprehensible written in sentence form.
Words containing quotations can sometimes indicate malicious intent. For example, in the first sentence, Mr. Pryzblo addresses the word “error” in quotations. It seems as if he is implying that a previous conversation involving errors made within his department is spurious . By allowing the word “error” to be quoted in this particular case, suggests a disagreement and partial hostility towards the recipient. A revised and more acceptable form of Mr. Pryzblo’s first sentence should have stated, “ As we previously discussed in our meeting in regards to the faulty information in the computer files, I am informing you that I have productively found the derivation of our dilemma.” The entire nature of the email is changed due to the process of re-wording. Miscommunication is a prevalent mistake when communicating.
The remainder of the email is aggressively written and it demands the change of the situation, opposed to assembling and finding a better solution for the problem. Secondly, the first word within the body of the email, “contrary,” is negative, instantly indicating the manner of the circumstances. Mr. Pryzblo becomes defensive towards T. Leoni and initiates the blame game. Possible and future conflict could be avoided by articulating the point as, “In an effort to solve our existing situation, I did a review of my computer operators’ files relating to the incorrect payroll checks and found that the time cards were in fact in error. The individuals within my directory are duplicating time tickets that contain the wrong information, thus leading to our current situation. I believe that we indeed can solve this situation by being more thorough in our handling of this sensitive information.” The revision indicates that the problem has been recognized and each parties are equally compliant in finding a possible solution.
The closing of the email is an alleged recommendation however the context suggests otherwise. Mr. Pryzblo writes, “ I recommend that you tell your clerks to review their work carefully before giving it to the computer operators.” The modified translation would suggest a solution opposed to a semi threat. “ I would like to recommend a solution that will be adequate to all of our needs. I will compose a memo and send it out to the personnel that are included in this situation, emphasizing that we will begin to conduct random reviews of the tickets. By informing the personnel of the situation I hope to create an awareness of the issue at hands. Also, I recommend that you tell the clerks to review their work carefully before giving it to the computer operators.” As previously stated, miscommunication is a prevalent mistake when communicating. The incorrect choice of words can easily ignite a downward spiral of perplexity towards a colleague. When communicating within the work place, professionalism is expected, above all, when communicating.

Defining Your Brochure's Objectives
For this assignment, I chose Texas Southern University college of science (www.tsu.edu) as an example of a web page that is effective in enticing students into the school. There were several reasons why I found the school to so effective. First, the design of the web page was intricately designed. It was helpful in providing essential information regarding the department. The site clearly describes the degrees that are offered within the department. The site is very much similar to images that represent movie themes and etc. Basically the page tries to the best of its ability to be as entertaining and straightforward as possible in order to narrow the decision of choosing an area of study. However, Texas Southern University's site quite bland in comparison with other schools. Ole Miss has "flashing lights", while on the other hand, USM only has average- looking colors. I learned that the brochures should be solid. I will provide an enormous amount of pictures to instantly catch the eye of the reader.

First project
For this project it seems like we really have a lot of analyzing to do. Which can be a problem for me sometimes because i tend to over analyze things. I guess with this project i can maybe learn to tone it down a bit. Critiquing your own work can be a little overwhelming because what seems good to you may not be the case. I just hope to better my writing skills with this particular project. This project seems to have a lot of questions to refer back to has we do the assignment, I just hope i can address them properly in the project.

Analyzing a Rhetorical Situation
Before actually discovering the "extravagance" of Biological Sciences, I studied Mass Communication briefly. The field of Mass Communication is both expansive and comprehensive at times, however, it covers an entire spectrum of information that relies on the opinion of the writer. When writing an essay for a communications course, the writer must imply structure and detail in order to allow the paper to fall in place. Making sure the topic coincides with the body of the paper, knowing the audience that you are addressing, and applying massive amounts of research, are all of the instructions that are needed to construct a communications paper. The technical aspects that are essential includes: learning specific “languages” of the audience, terms, cases, and scenario’s are needed in order to apply then to communications material. Every method, step, and or guideline carries its own weight. Moreover, the most important concept is to apply research, the only option into completing an error less essay in Mass Communication.
During the 2008 presidential election, there was an enormous amount of coverage surrounding our nation’s first African American president. An average of 35% of the media’s coverage on Barack Obama included false accusations that could possible sway the decision of voters. As an assignment, I was instructed to formulate a paper that focuses on the use of propaganda in presidential elections. My job was to evaluate every presidential campaign commercial, obtain and analyze the message, and contrast whether or not if the use of propaganda is present. After a topic is chosen, the process of research begins.
Dating back to my earlier days as a Mass Communication student, with the progression of every course level, the topic of propaganda has been discussed. However, in this particular course, MCJ Gender, Race, and Media, just as any other MCJ course, a student must apply previous knowledge with current knowledge in order to show your comprehension of the situation. However, there was in fact a larger debate within my field that sparked my decision in evaluating propaganda which involves being the pedestal and forefront of propaganda; The media.
Addressing the target audience is less difficult than expected. The moment a student declares his or her major as communications, automatically, the audience is known. For example, if a student were to declare advertising as their major, then they would consist of business savvy individuals that can maintain an enormous amount of creativity and is conversant upon every aspect of advertising. Moreover, most emphasis within the communications major will and can have the same audience. A broadcast journalism major, which consists of mainly reporting, would have the same audience as a broadcast production major which is the entire public itself.
It is very important that when writing a paper, a communication paper in particular, the language of the audience is established. When referring to languages, actual languages or dialects such as English and Spanish do not apply. However when referring to language, you are describing the jargon that is used within. To give a better example, we will take the communication’s paper into perspective. As mentioned earlier, an individual that is not proverbial upon the certain terms and aspects of the mass communication field would find it very difficult in trying to understand the content of the paper. Of course, it is not written in a foreign language, however the word choice is somewhat different. Terms such as propaganda, masses, and dilemma will somehow make their way into a communications paper.
Throughout the duration of the paper, I carefully explained and gave specific examples of the uses of propaganda in presidential commercials. Within my conclusion, I was able to reflect back to my thesis and presume the main point which includes the usage of defamatory footage in order to precede in winning. The School of Mass Communication and Journalism offers a wide variety of options when creating an actual media paper. However, determination and a keen eye is required when writing. The small papers that are being written now, are the stepping stone for future newspapers, magazine articles and books that are to be written. Technical writing is cannot be avoided. Without it, the world would be ill-informed upon everything on the account of grammatical errors and poor writing.

The "About Me" Assignment
Hey, my name is Aleshia Thornton. I am a senior here at the University of Southern Mississippi majoring in Biological Sciences. For those who are unfamiliar with what my major entails, I am simply studying to become a Physical Therapist. Although my anticipated graduation date is in May, I am still actively seeking an internship and or job within my major. During this semester, I hope to explore the various styles of writing that can and will be essential within my career in the future. Aside from passing the course, I hope to obtain as much knowledge as possible in regards to writing. In order to be the best at what I do, or what I plan to do, more so, I must abide by the small technical aspects, such as this course, in order to do so.
Biological Sciences major's endure lengthy writing assignments such as lab reports and experiment assignments. Lab reports provide individuals with numerical break-downs and tons of information used only as a page filler. There is a particular guideline you must follow when writing lab reports. However, the guideline requires much precision just as the overall lab report itself. Lab reports in my opinion are simply difficult and I do not enjoy writing them. The experiment assignments are most favorable in my opinion. This document in particular involves writing and or recording data of an experiment that has taken place. It does not require numerical break-downs unlike lab reports, and only requires a minimal amount of time to complete.
